Brian Bosworth
President and Founder

Brian leads the firm's economic development consulting and R&D activities and has pioneered new strategies in workforce development and education. He leads our partnership with Complete College America and has worked with postsecondary education systems and workforce development organizations throughout the U.S. Previously, Brian was the chief operating officer of the Indiana Department of Commerce, where he designed a development strategy then regarded as one of the most innovative and successful in the United States. He later assumed the presidency of the Indiana Economic Development Council, Inc., then co-founded Regional Technology Strategies in North Carolina, and began FutureWorks in 2000. More on Brian >

Stephen Michon
Partner

Stephen leads strategic planning, national learning networks, and applied economic analysis for workforce and regional economic development. He has expertise and interest in labor market economics and the role of regional business-civic leadership in economic development and inclusion. For over twenty years he has worked extensively with business-civic groups, philanthropy, state and local education, and regional economic groups across the country on these issues. Prior to FutureWorks, Stephen worked as a senior associate at the nationally recognized economic development firm Mt. Auburn Associates. He also led a community development corporation in Massachusetts and served in the New Hampshire state legislature. More on Stephen »

John Hoops
Partner

John has extensive background in the design and delivery of workforce development services, technical education design, labor market analysis, and program design and implementation in postsecondary education for working adults. John has long-term experience in community college strategic planning and developing new programs that increase completion and respond to demand in local economies. John recently conducted research and development projects in Tennessee, Louisiana and Indiana focusing on career and technical education at the secondary and postsecondary levels. Previously, John was the Executive Director of the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association and of its educational arm, the Western Mass Precision Machining Institute. He has a Ph.D. from Boston University. More on John »

Erin Flynn

Erin leads our practice that links strategic partnership agendas for universities and communities. Erin has been a leader in economic development and urban research universities, including the connection of university assets -- research, human capital, technology innovation -- to deliver on the region's highest priority economic, social and environmental goals. These include urban sustainability, economic development, community health, and public education. Erin was the urban development director at the Portland Development Commission and currently directs strategic partnerships at Portland State University. Erin has a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Malo Hutson

Malo focuses on community and economic development, urban policy and politics, and urban health. Malo's work has been recognized by the White House, where he was invited to participate in the first-ever Environmental Justice forum as an expert in community development, environmental justice, and urban health. He has over 15 years of experience working on national and international academic and community-centered projects, including strategic planning and stakeholder engagement for regional economic development initiatives, policy recommendations for local government, and leading community engagement for local development projects. Malo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of California at Berkeley and the co-founder of The NIAM Group. Malo is currently a faculty affiliate of the Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholars Program at the University of California, San Francisco and U.C. Berkeley and a faculty member of the Diversity and Health Disparities Cluster at Berkeley as well. He serves on the Boards of Directors for the Pacific Institute and Stiles Hall.
